“The Seven Stars and the Birth of a Child”
(칠성신과 아기의 탄생 · Chilseongsin-gwa Agi-ui Tansaeng)
🕰️ 1. The Story
Long ago, in a quiet village nestled beneath the Milky Way, lived a young couple who longed for a child. Though they prayed at temples and offered food at the village shrine, many years passed without a single sign of blessing. Still, the couple loved each other deeply and faced each day with patience and hope.
One night, the sky was unusually bright. The Seven Stars, known as Chilseong, glowed like lanterns above the world—shining so clearly that even the river reflected their shimmering tails.
The wife stepped outside to admire the sky. Overwhelmed by longing, she whispered,
“If the Seven Stars hear the cries of those who wait… please, grant us a child to love.”
As her words drifted into the night, a soft breeze circled her gently, and the seven stars twinkled in unison, as though answering her plea.
That very night, she dreamed of seven radiant figures descending from the heavens. They stood in a circle, each holding a glowing seed. One approached her and said,
“Your heart is sincere.
The heavens have opened for you.
Raise this child with kindness, and he shall bring light to the world.”
The figure placed the glowing seed into her hands, and she awoke with tears of joy.
Months later, the woman gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. The child’s eyes sparkled like starlight, and when he cried, the sound was soft and melodic, like wind chimes swaying in the night breeze.
The villagers were astonished.
“This is a child blessed by Chilseong!” they whispered.
As the boy grew, strange wonders followed him. Flowers bloomed early in spring, sick animals recovered after he touched them, and even storms parted when he laughed. Yet he was humble, gentle, and always willing to help others.
Every year on his birthday, the seven stars shone a little brighter, as if watching over their earthly blessing. And whenever the villagers looked up at the night sky, they remembered that miracles come not from wealth or power, but from sincere hearts that reach toward heaven.
